Et tu, winter?

Things areā€¦ oddly warm here in Minnesota. Here, we live Thanksgiving the old-fashioned way-- visiting grandma over the river and through the woods on a sleigh-- but it is hardly looking like that now. I suppose I have fully adjusted from Texas, since it feels wrong not to have seen a bit of snow yet (except some flakes when I was visiting Yale).

It will come, won't it? I want to ski and skate...

Comments:
With global warming, skating may well disappear. But massive snow falls, interspersed with pseudo spring thaws will become more frequent. More energy in the atmosphere means more storms, longer droughts, and more variable weather in the northern tier of states.

I miss the cold clear mornings with everything coated in white, turning from the orange-pink of the sunrise. Never here in central Texas. But when the Great Lakes never get cold enough to freeze over, we have changed the planet.

be careful what you ask for... but then I still have flowers blooming in my NC garden and have even seen some honey bees. Yesterday I picked some green beans and transplanted some pepper plants and schlepped them off to the green house. Why not, they were still blooming. Today I will take a cutting from my lone tomato plant - I picked up three ripe tomatoes last week.

A bumper crop coming off my tomatoes - Herbs flourishing - Roses and other flowers in full bloom - central Texas is doing well. Can't say as much for our politics! No abortion, no support once they are born, schools in decline, environment more polluted every day, etc. Gotta love the GOP.
