My goal for December

Looking back a the year so far, it looks like I have saved only one project for the last month: I need to, for the first time in my life, try to eat some fruitcake.

This stuff has about the worst reputation of any food out there-- people really hate it. Yet, it continues to be a product that people buy and (apparently) eat.

Anyone have a tip or two for my year-capping project?

Comments:
Pour bourbon on it - wrap it in several layers of cheesecloth and let it age. Add bourbon every two weeks or so. Let it sit unwrapped for a day, then eat. It can stay wrapped for a long time - the booze keeps it from molding. Slice thin and serve with whipped cream.

Don't buy the nasty Claxton Fruit Cake. Find something made locally made. It will taste better. Let me know if you figure out what the nasty green things are in the fruit cake.

Agree w both of the above . Use ingredients w out food coloring if possible, use bourbon or rum, and don't go anywhere near a Claxton fruitcake.

Think of it as more of an old English "figgy pudding" .....

Collin street Bakery in Texas does a very good fruitcake - especially soaked in bourbon.

pour bourbon in a shot glass. Drink. Repeat until the urge to eat fruitcake goes away.

Pour a shot of bourbon. Drink. Repeat until you stop thinking about eating fruitcake
